Europa viu la pitjor sequera d’aquests darrers cinc-cents anys, segons que han alertat aquesta setmana experts de la Comissió Europea en un informe. El 47% de la UE és en condicions de risc, és a dir, que les precipitacions han estat inferiors a les habituals i la humitat del sòl és deficitària, i el 17% de la UE és en alerta, és a dir, que també la vegetació i els conreus mostren els efectes negatius de la sequera. De manera acumulada, el 64% d’Europa és en risc o en alerta, cosa que també contribueix a estendre àmpliament les zones de perill d’incendi per tota la UE.
El Servei de Monitoratge de la Terra de Copernicus (CLMS), el sistema d’observació per satèl·lit de la UE i l’Agència Espacial Europea, ha compartit durant l’estiu imatges que mostren els estralls que causa la sequera en diferents parts del món.

#Drought emergency in Northern #Italy: even the #Piave river is dry.
The impressive #Copernicus #Sentinel2 images of the river in #Veneto (2021 vs 2022) show the difference in dryness and water flow (-25% compared to the historical average).
