El gasoducte que transporta el gas de Lituània a Letònia ha estat malmès arran d’una explosió que ha causat flames de cinquanta metres d’altura. L’incendi no ha deixat ferits, però ha obligat a evacuar un poble de la vora de dos-cents cinquanta habitants, al comtat de Panevezys, al nord de Lituània.
L’operador de gas Amber Grid ha informat de l’explosió i ha dit que no hi havia proves que hagués estat un atac. “Segons l’avaluació inicial, no veiem cap causa maligna, però la investigació tindrà en compte totes les opcions possibles”, ha dit el director executiu d’Amber Grid, Nemunas Biknius, en una compareixença de premsa.
El subministrament de gas a través del gasoducte danyat s’ha interromput de seguida.
