More than 26,000 photographs with four cameras and six different lenses were used by Rob Whitowrth to make this incredible time-lapse video of the city of Barcelona. Whitworth also retouched the photographs so that there are pieces—like the interior of the Liceu Opera House or the Palau de la Música [Music Palace]—feel like they’re drawn by hand instead of created with a camera.

The creator offers his thanks to the Catalan Tourism Agency for giving him access to all the locations that are featured in the video. He says it took him 363 hours of work, 75 hours of logistics and travel, 31 hours scouting and location finding, 78 hours shooting, and 179 hours of post production work to make the video.

Whitworth is British, lives in Shanghai, and introduces himself as a “urban filmmaker” because he specializes in making timelapses of cities. For example, he has immortalized the transportation systems of several Asian cities. Here are some examples.
