Catalan business-man, Enric Bernat, founder of Chupa Chups Company, died yesterday, December 28, after a long disease that had been keeping him out of the company’s management. Chupa Chups is regarded as one of the main Catalan multinationals, with factories and sub-companies in every continent. Founded in 1958, it has come to produce as many as 4 billion of its famous lolly-pops a year, as these sweets are sold in more than 150 countries. The company has undergone of late a restructuring process consisting of product diversification, following some difficult transaction abroad.
