Each year there are highly specialized apps developed specifically for covering the Mobile World Congress, and in fact they now are covered in a special area of App Planet. The ever larger size of the show, both in terms of visitors as well as exhibitors, demonstrates how vital apps have become in our daily lives. It’s not surprising that some of the best examples of apps are those that have been developed specifically for the most important app show in the world.
This tour must begin with the Mobile World Congress itself, which of course has it’s own app for the principal device platforms in the market: Android, iOS and Windows Phone. It’s free, like the vast majority, and it allows you to create your own agenda, choose speakers and exhibitors, search by interest, contact with the rest of the attendees via its own messaging system, consult news and maps, and access Mobile World Live, the show’s video channel.
Another app connected with the MWC is the one from the Mobile World Centre, a space that was opened last year in Barcelona’s central Plaça Catalunya, in the context of Barcelona’s designation as the Mobile World Capital, and whose objective is to spread mobility throughout our daily lives. The center has created its own app, available for Android and iOS.
And GSMA, the association of 800 operators who organize the show in Barcelona, also has an app with all sorts of functions and services, both for Android and iOS.
It’s also important to mention the portal Apps4bcn, created last year by the Barcelona City Government with the intention of categorizing by topic and rating, all the applications that might be useful both for residents and visitors.
