Manel Anoro (website) is a contemporary Catalan painter who has exhibited widely in Europe, Japan, and the United States, where he had his 38th solo show at Campton Gallery in Soho in May. His exuberant colors and gushing landscapes are reminiscent of Gauguin and Cezanne, and yet are uniquely his own. As a child he loved to draw, but was steered to more practical pursuits, and ended up spending 15 years as a systems analyst for IBM.

Anoro spoke with Liz Castro on Twitter on Tuesday, as part of the CatalanTalk interview series. He spoke about beauty and inspiration, among other things. The interview is also available in CatalanSpanishFrench, and German, thanks to translators Esther RoigRodolf GimenoBlandine Giraud, and Monika Ferré Jordà, respectively.
