Els Oscar, els premis més mediàtics i glamurosos de la indústria cinematogràfica, han tingut un guanyador clar: ‘Birdman’, d’Alejandro González Iñarritu, que s’ha acabat imposant en els premis més importants a la seva principal competidora, ‘Boyhood’, de Richard Linklate. ‘Birdman’ s’ha endut els Oscar al millor film, al millor director, al millor guió original i a la millor fotografia, per a Emmanuel Lubezki. ‘El gran hotel Budapest’ ha obtingut també quatre estatuetes, però en categories tècniques (millor banda sonora (Alexandre Desplat), disseny de producció, millor vestuari i millor maquillatge i perruqueria). I ‘Boyhood’ s’ha hagut de conformar amb el premi a la millor actriu secundària, per a Patricia Arquette.
L’Oscar a la millor actriu era més previsible: Julianne Moore, per ‘Still Alice’. El de miller actor se l’ha endut Eddie Redmayne, per ‘The Theory of Everything’, la biografia de Stephen Hawking.
‘Whiplash’ n’ha aconseguit dos, de tècnics, gràcies al millor muntatge i la millora mescla de so. La millor pel·lícula de parla no anglesa ha estat per la polonesa ‘Ida’, de Pawel Pawlikowski, i Big Hero 6 ha complert el pronòstic i s’ha endut a casa l’Oscar a la millor cinta d’animació. L’estatueta al millor documental ha estat per a ‘CitizenFour’. Finalment, l’Oscar a la millor cançó ha estat pel tema ‘Glory’, de la pel·lícula ‘Selma’, sobre la vida de Martin Luther King, interpretada pel cantant John Legend.
