The, up-to-now, trainer of Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, will from 1 July be the new manager for Manchester City for the next three seasons. This came in an announcement from the English club: ‘Manchester City can confirm that in recent weeks it has commenced and finalised contractual negotiations with Pep Guardiola to become MCFC head coach’.

Guardiola will therefore take the jump to the Premier League after three seasons in the German league with the team from Munich. With Bayern, the Catalan trainer has to date won two league titles, one cup, one European Supercup and one Club World Cup.

The trainer from Santpedor, in City will meet up again with two old acquaintances from his time with Barça, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, who are now technical manager and chief executive of the English club.

Support to independence

The Catalan coach has always shown his favour for the independence of Catalonia and is one of the most international ambassadors of the Catalan process. In fact, in the 27-S elections, Guardiola symbolically closed the list of Junts pel Sí, the independentist force that won the elections.
