Two massive Catalan flags created by hundreds of thousands of demonstrators filled the Diagonal and the Gran Via, coming together at 5:14 p.m. at the vortex located in Plaça de les Glòries, thus forming a giant V to demand independence and demonstrate the will to hold a referendum on 9 November. At the head of the demonstration was a banner with the message ‘On 9-N we vote. On 9-N we win”. Also at the head were the presidents of the groups that organized the rally, Carme Forcadell, from the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), and Muriel Casals, from Òmnium Cultural, along with members of government and representatives of political parties. The mass gathering yielded some stunning images, among which the aerial photo of the Diagonal taken by the ANC from a helicopter is perhaps the most striking.
