Just like last year with the Catalan Way to Independence demonstration last September 11th, the demand for buses for taking people to participate in this year’s Catalan Day Demonstration—which will feature the creation of a massive letter V in Barcelona—has begun to outstrip the number available. Territorial chapters of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) reported to VilaWeb that they are having a hard time finding more buses to reserve. The Catalan Way completely stripped Catalonia of buses and it was necessary to bring additional buses from outside Catalonia. If the pace continues this year like it has this week, the same situation will occur. It’s for that reason that the ANC is calling on all the groups and organizations that want to participate in the huge V to make their reservations for buses as soon as possible.

The demonstration on two of Barcelona’s most important streets: the Diagonal and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, which meet at the Plaça de les Glòries to form a huge letter V—for Via (Way), for Voluntat (Will), for Votar (Vote), and for Victòria (Victory)—will be organized by segments. Participants will have to sign up ahead of time and will only be able to enter the segments for which they have signed up. An online sign-up system will be launched in the next few weeks and will work as it did last year, so that participants are well distributed throughout the length of the demonstration and segments with fewer participants can be reinforced.

The V demonstration organizers from the ANC will hold a press conference in the next two weeks to announce all of the details around the event. At that time, they will explain how the t-shirts will work, the deadlines for signing up, how cultural groups will participate, instructions for participants, group sign-ups, and more.
