Dolors Feliu defended Catalonia’s Statute of Autonomy of 2006 before Spain’s Constitutional Court before becoming the General Director of the Catalan Government’s Legal Coordination and Advisory Services office in 2011. She spoke to us Tuesday about the legal prospects for Catalonia’s independence.

Dolors Feliu (Roda de Ter, 1964) has a degree in law and an advanced degree in Autonomous and Local Tax Revenue Systems from the University of Barcelona. She was the Catalan Government’s lawyer before the Spain’s Constitutional Court, and involved in the defense of the Statute of Autonomy of 2006. The adverse ruling on the Statute is often signaled as the principal catalyst for galvanizing support for Catalan independence.

Feliu was named General Director of Catalan Government’s Legal Coordination and Advisory Services office in January 2011, and is a member of the Col·lectiu Praga, a group of legal scholars who write about Catalonia’s right to decide.

She is also a Professor of Constitutional Law at U Pompeu Fabra in BCN. In February 2013, her book “Manual per la independència” (Independence Manual) was published by Angle Editorial. You can download a sample here.

She spoke to us Tuesday on Twitter, as part of the #CatalanTalk interview series, #CatalanTalkEN (for English), #CatalanTalkCA (for Catalan), #CatalanTalkES (for Spanish) and #CatalanTalkFR (for French). German translation will be available shortly.
