Primavera Sound will take over the city of Barcelona like never before with an expanded musical repertoire that will begin this Monday and last until Sunday, and from the Convent of Sant Agustí to the Parc del Fòrum. On Monday, performances began in various concert halls, including the Sala Apolo, Barts, Teatre Principal and la Latina o La Seca, on Wednesday the first free concert takes place at the Fòrum and on Thursday marks the official beginning of the festival. The area is being expanded again this year and will occupy 180,000 square meters (almost 2 million square feet), and will be distributed among two principal stages as well as the addition of three smaller stages for a total of eleven. Both the festival’s budget and the number of concerts have increased: 15% and 348, respectively.

Out of the 348 performances, 228 will take place at the Fòrum and the remaining 120 in other Primavera spaces throughout the city. These parallel activities will be concentrated in the Born neighborhood, and the closing concert will take place in the Parc de la Ciutadella, with performances in La Botiga del Primavera Sound, Primavera Pro workshops and showcases in the Convent of Sant Agustí or in the La Seca Espai Brossa. Primavera als Clubs is the other highlighted element of the festival, and started off this Monday with a performance by The Free Fall Band in the Sala Apolo. The Teatre Principal, Teatre Latino and Sala Barts will also host concerts through next Sunday.
